This just out from Super, Fred was a great spirit to be around. I'll never forget his smile.

- quote -
After a year of battling cancer Fred Maynor, Fearless Fred, died Wednesday
evening. Fred was often hard to see over the big hood and behind the dusty
windshield of his water truck but his huge smile always beamed on through.
I never saw Fred miss a meal but he couldn't have been more than a hundred
pounds, fringed leather coat and all.

Fred would get up at 3AM warming up the trucks and getting ready for
long days of helping to keep the dust in our city on the ground and out of
the air. Fred loved the Blackrock Desert and if you were lucky enough to
score a trip back to Reno with Fred it would become a sightseeing tour for
hours, only scratching the surface of his memory.

Fred's last hours were spent outside watching the weather and fires that
were cropping up around the Palomino Valley where he lived.

I have asked Bex to put Fred's name on the remembrance plaque.

Dave
